It is very difficult to accurately judge the cost of a site call until you are actually on site but no one wants to write an open ended cheque so we have tried to answer your concerns.
Some customers are very specific about their needs, know their equipment and know what they need done, others are not.
It is always more cost-effective for you to bring your equipment into our workshop where you will be charged a fixed labour rate of £30 per hour and the first ½ hour estimate is free. Our engineers are therefore not wasting time travelling and you get more for your money.
We appreciate this is not always possible or convenient for the customer and therefore we have tried to come up with a guideline of costs involved and why we charge them.
Charges for site visits are as follows:
£150 callout – 1st 4 hours (Plus VAT) Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm £30 ph after 4 hours and £45 (time/half after 5pm).
Time starts when engineer leaves the workshop and ends when he leaves site. We charge this because even though there is little benefit to you, we are losing the use of a skilled man for the duration.
Travelling time is charged at 50p per mile for the round trip and any Tolls/parking/congestion charges are passed on also.
Account customers are asked to supply an order number before the engineer sets out on the visit to cover basic callout cost and customers without account facilities are asked to pay the callout charge of £150 by credit card.
We do this because our regular customers understand the way we work, but there have been many occasions where we have attended a site visit and the customer has decided not to continue with a repair but resents having to pay the callout charge.
It is in your interests to have as much information as possible ready at the time of booking a call, to enable the engineer to be best equipped to give the best service. If you have serial number, and model of the equipment, we may be able to give you a guideline of how much parts will cost.
